When editing a layout, what is the field “Display Field” for? I thought maybe it was the field which is being prompted on the front of the card, but not only would that fail to cover cases where multiple fields are used in conjunction to prompt the answer, but hinekidori’s templates and layouts have it set to the field “focus”, which is, as far as I can tell, empty.
The Display field is the field that is being displayed in the Cards table (and some other places). Basically the main value for display purposes. By default this is the first field in a template, but sometimes this might not be what you want to display for card management (for example, If I recall correctly the first field of hine’s templates is an index field. Meaning all cards would show as numbers)

Ah, so it’s for card management, not the actual reviewing?

Correct! it’s also used on the results page after doing your lessons/reviews
